File:A Lluís Companys P1450740.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Thanks for your message , sorry did not understand it you ask me for my identity and to be mailed , what kind of identity and to be sent to who? (Raafat (talk) 11:08, 8 April 2015 (UTC))

@Raafat: You can ask Jim in the deletion request what kind of statement he is asking for. Sending to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org some documents proving that you are the heir would be definitive, but I suppose a lot less would be enough, too.--Pere prlpz (talk) 21:23, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

Help

Dear Pere prlpz
Please tag to delete the blurred versions
I am not sure how to do it.
Best wishes

@Aftabbanoori: I think there isn't an established process to tag versions, but you can say you agree with me in the deletion request page - if you do - and I expect the closing admin to revert.--Pere prlpz (talk) 15:22, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

ICGC

Hi, I restored that map. Do we need some kind of license review for these? GIF is an outdated format, other files should be reuploeded as PNG. This is very interesting, but I don't see any way to download a map from there. Any idea, other than making screenshots? Regards, Yann (talk) 09:16, 4 July 2015 (UTC)

You can download full sheets of maps and aerial orthophotos in a set of formats going to http://www.icc.cat/vissir3/ and clicking "catàleg i descàrrega" in the left side. Jpeg images are directly available just for screen view, but other formats can be easily converted - I usually download MrSid maps and photograps and convert them to jpeg using Irfanview. However, I don't expect mass importing of such maps to Commons to be very useful, just as we don't routinely import OpenStreetMap tiles just because the license allows us to do it. I think the maps and aerial photos would be mostly used to make our own derivative small maps or graphics to illustrate articles. For example, aerial views of big castles, ports or dams can be useful.
The deleted images were made by somebody to illustrate particular articles. I can't see the deleted images and I can't remember if they were interesting, but if restored they might be used to easily illustrate the same articles again - although I can't be sure about that without seeing the images. Furthermore WIWOSM maps might have rendered some gif locator maps obsolete.
About license reviewing I'm not sure what is needed. I think a dedicated template would be useful. A problem might arise with some uploaders misunderstanding of license for images in ICGC website that are their own. For example, in http://www.icc.cat/vissir3/index.html?DJ3uj2TEJ you can see at bottom right "Ministerio de Defensa" credited for this 1946 aerial images, and therefore the photo is not covered by the free license. I suppose a dedicated license review is not needed and the usual deletion procedures will be enough.--Pere prlpz (talk) 10:26, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
@Yann: I forgot to notify.--Pere prlpz (talk) 10:31, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
A login and password is required. Regards, Yann (talk) 10:58, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
@Yann: Yes, it is, but registering is free. You just need to click on "Vull registrar-me". In case you need, the website is also available in English and Spanish (upper right).--Pere prlpz (talk) 11:09, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
So I registered, but then I got a ZIP file which contains 3 files. It seems that the map is a SID file, which requires a some plugin or converter to open. I trying to install that plugin, but it doesn't work on my setup (Vista+Chrome). It probably doesn't work on Linux. So not so easy. Looking at Category:Topographic maps of Spain, I see that there is not that much choice. Personally, I would support upload of some maps on Commons. Regards, Yann (talk) 11:26, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
Current ICGC instructions to convert MrSid to Jpeg or Tiff are in http://www.icc.cat/cat/Home-ICC/Mapes-escolars-i-divulgacio/Preguntes-i-respostes/Com-transformar-un-MrSid-en-TIFF-o-JPEG (as usual, English and Spanish versions available).
I still follow the instructions as it were some years ago, the first time I downloaded an ICC map, and I use Irfanview with a MrSid plugin. It's a free program with a lot of plugins and it works fine for me with Windows XP. http://www.irfanview.com/
I also tried GeoWiewer (a free Lizardthech viewer) as present instructions advice, but I think it's a lot more complicated if you just want to convert a MrSid map to jpeg. However, it is sometimes useful if you want to stitch together several sheets.--Pere prlpz (talk) 11:42, 4 July 2015 (UTC)

Consulta

Hola Pere!

--ESM (talk) 15:39, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

Categories a Catalunya

Si sabeu d'algun cas més, us ho agrairia. Aniré rectificant aquests casos.--JT Curses (talk) 20:19, 28 November 2015 (UTC)

Pinus pinea

Ola Pere prlpz, I see you are a fellow from Galiza, I'm Portuguese, so there's no need to stay in confusion and misunderstandings. I believe I understand your point, I already suspected that Pinus pinea is native to the Mediterranean region, and the classification of Pinus pinea in Spain, Portugal, Italy and France as an ornamental tree was not exact. The thing is that I'm classifying architecture now, not plants, those Pinus pinea where nothing but a side effect, since the castle I'm doing now is filled with them, and they were all planted in the 1940s, therefore cultivated. Anyway, I've not moved anything outside what already was marked as "cultivated", and even moved the seedlings to the upper category, as they can be both cultivated and wild. I've no idea if we still have wild Pinus pinea in Portugal, Spain, Italy, France or whatever, so I used the system which was already there. If you know that some images refer to wild specimens instead of cultivated ones, just create a second category inside that one named "Pinus pinea (cultivated) in Spain" and move there all the files I've placed inside "Pinus pinea in Spain". I can't do that because I don't know the areas where they grow wild. In Portugal most of them are cultivated or naturalized. Ata despois, -- Darwin Ahoy! 02:12, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

00:09, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Monuments Spain 2016 is coming!

Dear Pere prlpz,

As every year, Wiki Loves Monuments in Spain, an international photographic contest about cultural heritage in the Spanish territory, will start on next September 1st. On behalf of the Wikipedia community and Wikimedia España (WM-ES), and as a participant in former editions of the event, or in other photographic contests organized by WM-ES, we'd like to encourage you to participate in the 2016 edition. We do know that you've been keen on contributing your work to the free knowledge in the past and therefore believe that you'll be glad to help us again.

We want to inform you about a substantial change in the rules of the contest: this year only images of monuments or municipalities without previous photograph in Wikimedia Commons are accepted. To facilitate hunting monuments and municipalities without a free image, we have prepared a set of specific lists, which can be checked in the contest websites: wikilov.es/monuments or wikilm.es

If you have comments, questions or suggestions about the contest, they are more than welcome. You can leave them here.

We look forward to your free images!

Sincerely,

The team of Wiki Loves Monuments edition in Spain
