Welcome to Wikimedia Commons, Discol!

Hello, Discol, and welcome to Commons. Thank you for the work you've done categorizing images of the Washington National Cathedral. Could you tell me why you removed the category "Cathedrals in the United States" from this photo I took of the bishop's seat there? Is there another category you think would be better? Jonathunder (talk) 21:38, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just doing what I can ... When a category has many subcategories, it is much tidier to keep the main category space clean. Regarding your query, if you think that I made a mistake, please feel free to correct it as you see fit, that's how WP operates! My reasoning was that the category "Cathedrals in the United States" is more suitable for exterior pictures. By the way, yours is a nice photo, and I would humbly suggest trying such category as: Episcopal cathedrals in the United States, which would be more appropriate since the presiding Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church and its Washington Bishop literally take seat in Washington National Cathedral. Best, --Discol (talk) 22:28, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think we both may have confused two categories with only a one letter difference. The category that was on the image was Category:Cathedras in the United States‎ (no "L") as the main subject of the photo is literally the seat of bishops, called a "cathedra". "Cathedrals in the United States" (with an "L") is much too general, as you pointed out. Speaking of no L, happy holidays. ;-) Jonathunder (talk) 01:58, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ooops! Then, Merry Christmas to you and your family!--Discol (talk) 17:20, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notification about possible deletion

[edit]
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

ArchiveBot

[edit]

Hi, I noticed you have set up User:MiszaBot to archive your talk page. Unfortunately, the bot has stopped working, and given how its operator is inactive, it is unclear when/if this will fixed. For the time being, I have volunteered to operate a MiszaBot clone (running the exact same code). With that said, your input would be appreciated at Commons:Bots/Requests/ArchiveBot 1.
