@Enhancing999: I’m not convinced this justifies expanding the domainlist… isn’t it possible to download the old version and then upload it as a regular file?
And I think there’s actually a big problem with this: the allowlist contains domains, not URL patterns. I don’t think it’s possible to add upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/archive to it (at best, it would probably do nothing). We’d have to add all of upload.wikimedia.org to the allowlist – but that would include non-free files from other wikis (example), which sounds like something we should avoid. Finna is a service with access to material from around one hundred finnish archives, libraries and museums. There may be more sub-domains needed. Images are often uploaded via bot which will attempt to use copyupload.

Regarding www.cmaj.ca, they provide two Creative Commons licenses: Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial No Derivatives (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) and Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0), found here https://www.cmaj.ca/copyright. @Accuracy-searcher: CC BY 4.0 is compatible with Commons, but CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 isn’t (both NC and ND are incompatible, see Commons:Licensing#Forbidden licenses). The AIDS and LGBT documentation is under CC BY 4.0, and that's the information I'm using. The licensing aspect is a bit more complex than I initially thought, but that's okay. @Don-vip: How do we know that these images are freely licensed? I can’t find anything on the EVE website (and the general LASP website explicitly says to request permission via email), and the only photo in Category:Extreme Ultraviolet Variability Experiment (EVE) is from NASA.  Oppose – unfortunately, I don’t think it’s possible to limit the entry to /NARAprodstorage (it’s a list of domains, not of URL prefixes), and allowing all of Amazon S3 would definitely be a bad idea IMHO.   • The download-link for the high-resolution image has been changed to new domain. Our tool to upload images uses that link to upload high-resolution images to Commons.
  • Most of the images in Finna are available with CC-BY and adding the domain to copy-allowed list reduces need to download image locally before uploading to Commons.

✓ Done – I don’t understand how you’re supposed to get to those zetcom.app URLs (the download link I can find on that page is still for finna.fi, but it apparently doesn’t work outside of Firefox, so presumably it’s somehow tied to a cookie or whatever), but the domain seems specific enough (I assume it’s “MP Finland” and then whatever repox is).

Thanks. Those URL are from Finna-API (json-data, the one you get for browser seems to be different). Also all images are not transferred and some use the older domains. I imagine they would be transferred at some point but that is hard to tell. Finna is a collection from multiple different museums with different systems. Ipr1 (talk) 14:20, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Finna.fi-domain seems to work when using the Commons-upload form manually. The domain given in the API can be different, sometimes it is a redirector to another service that we can't use (they don't have same API access) even if image seems to be coming via Finna. Little clarification for future memory: Finna is maintained by National Library and zetcom-domain seems to be maintained by Finnish Heritage Agency, where Finna retrieves images from. Finna has scaling and they are two different organizations. This is just in case someone sees this later and wonders about it. Ipr1 (talk) 15:16, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
