Allow Overwriting (Tanzania Road Maps)

Hello, Can I please request the following files have the ability to overwriting. File:T12 Tansania.svg, File:T13 Tansania.svg, File:T14 Tansania.svg, File:T15 Tansania.svg, File:T16 Tansania.svg. I have updates to the route network, the last update to these were in 2012. These files are present on infoboxes and several list pages across English, Swahili, Germany and Norwegian Wikipedia. Actually Reading the guidelines, I am not sure if I should be overwriting these files. Basically the maps show the Road within the overall road network. The Roads are the same, the overall network has expanded. I guess for refecence you can see File:T9 Tansania.svg for what I did. Advice? Sputink (talk) 17:48, 29 October 2023 (UTC)

Allow Overwriting of File:Arithmetic coding example.svg

I'd like permission to overwrite File:Arithmetic coding example.svg with a minor correction. The upper bound on the final result (lower right corner, text 0.110010(1) = 0.11011) is incorrect. The final number should read 0.110011.

Technical details: The binary fraction 0.110010(1) means 0.1100101111111... repeating, which approaches 0.110011, not 0.11011. A "0" is missing. I have the fixed SVG file ready; it only changes one byte in the file (line 172, column 477). No other graphics needed to be edited, the box containing the text has plenty of extra space.

This is explained by the fact that the files containing the registered rights have been deleted. I made a mistake when I found out that copyright should not be included without the permission of the author or owner of the images. I should have checked the images for copyright or not and I apologise. Let's say, it was a rookie mistake, because I didn't know the rules well and something I had to learn over time. I have been working on improving the Wikipedia styles of the articles on infrastructure such as roads, highways and motorways.

I have prepared a version with regularly spaced and sized beads, aligned objects to centres, as well as modified colours so that related beads have edges of different colours but the same centre colour which more intuitively notes their similarities of use. The colour change will require users to edit any page that notes the colours in a caption but I consider this a small and easy task and well worth the effort in light of the increased overall utility especially as I have tested the colour scheme under multiple colour blindness conditions and they are all readily distinguishable which cannot also be said of the current version. Allow overwriting of File:Detailed SVG map of the Francophone world.svg

I would like to overwrite this file, as it is necessary to unhighlight the Western Sahara on this map. The standard on Wikipedia's world maps is the existence of a border between Morocco and Western Sahara. This is in accordance with the internationally recognized Moroccan borders. Therefore, the fact that French is a widely used language in Morocco is insufficient reason in this case to highlight Western Sahara with the same color as Morocco. The Western Sahara territory could be highlighted if there were more than 20% French speakers within it, but this is not the case.

This same modification has already been done on this other French language-related map: File:Map-Francophone World.svg. NK, NR etc stand for direct translations from English and are never used in Breton (North-West > Norzh-Kornôg, North-East > Norzh-Reter...), there are distinct words for all eight cardinal points (cf. I think that it is acceptable with flag designs because the change in aspect ratio & color shade won't change how people recognize the flag in this case (it will be still a blue pennon with the emblem and arrow). However, since we expect everything to be most accurate as possible, the existing file illustrated the flag's ratio complete wrong corresponding to the regulation (the base:height ratio should be 1:1.5 instead of 1:2 like this) and some details of the current file is also misrepresenting the actual ensign [2], I believe that this file should be updated. This is fixing what is being wrong, not changing a French flag into a Russian flag or an Italian flag.

GPSLeo the original picture has an obvious white balance problem, especially compared to other pictures on the same en.wp page (Douchi), or images of the same products in Category:Yang Jiang Preserved Beans 陽江姜豉 and Category:Lee Kum Kee - Products. I've uploaded File:Douchiphoto whitebalance.jpg for now. I hope you can compare the two images and see that the color correction is minor: no information is lost, the correction is a white-rebalance done on the whole picture instead of specific selected parts. When viewed as an .svg, it is still barely readable even when fully zoomed out. Even on Inkscape, it starts out unbearably large and must be zoomed out to about 0.1% to be convenient.

On Inkscape, I've reduced the image size considerably so that the map is clearly and comfortably visible at 100% zoom but is also big enough for browser users to zoom in and identify its smallest features at maximum zoom. I've also modified and scaled up many of the labels which were unnecessarily small and updated a few point positions, as well as added three important lakes in West Mexico. The existing file is corrupted in a way that is preventing creation of thumbnails, so all pages that use it (13 different languages of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyrotron) are just showing a broken image. Attempting to access the scaled image causes either a 500 or 429 error from upload.wikimedia.org. I have a corrected, otherwise identical file ready to upload. File:Forms of government 2021.svg is no longer used to only refer to the forms of government in the year 2021, in fact, File:Forms of government.svg redirects there because it's the file that has continuously been updated to reflect the current state of the world. I've been on the talk page of the file asking about whether the name is confusing, but as far as I'm aware, it's not possible to change the name of a file uploaded to Commons. Either way, the file is intended to be up-to-date, as it's used on several pages as if it's intended to be current. There have been attempts to supersede the file before, but to my knowledge, none of them have been successful as the people keeping it up to date have just gone back to this file.
